Calgary Naturopathic Medicine and Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a modality I have recently added to my growing Calgary Naturopathic Medicine practice, and I’m very excited to discuss this amazing treatment here.  Mesotherapy can treat a wide variety of concerns including acute and chronic pain, cellulite, and facial wrinkles.

Mesotherapy involves the injection of homeopathics and nutrients millimeters under the skin, into the layer of fat and connective tissue which is called the mesoderm. Doing this leads to the repair and healing of tissues, including muscle, cartilage, bone, and connective tissue. The affected area is typically treated with multiple injections that are almost painless. All age groups can have this treatment done, and procedures are quick and require no downtime by the patient.

Mesotherapy and Pain

Mesotherapy is an excellent method for treating pain, anything from arthritis and joint pain to muscular sprains and strains and sports injuries. The type of solution that is injected will be determined by the type of symptom that is being treated. Some conditions that can be treated include:

  • Acute and chronic pain – sprains, strains, tears, sports injuries (eg. tendonitis, rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow/golfers elbow)
  • Skin disorders – acne scars, pigmentation, hormonal imbalance, stretch marks
  • Joint disorders and Arthritis – knee, hip, shoulder, ankle
  • Muscle tension and trigger points, relieving muscle spasms
  • Bone disorders and calcifications
  • Neuralgia/herniation
  • Bone spurs
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Post operative pain
  • Painful scars
  • Hair loss and thinning hair, alopecia
  • Anxiety

Mesotherapy for Cellulite and Targeted Fat Loss

Cellulite is caused by several factors such as hormonal changes, weak connective tissue, poor circulation, poor lymphatic drainage, and poor diet. Mesotherapy injections are given to improve venous and lymphatic movement as well as to break down fat. Nutrients are injected directly into the areas of concern, leaving the skin appearing toned and revitalized. Areas that can be targeted for fat loss include inner and outer thighs, the abdomen above and below the umbilicus, arms, low back, saddle bags around the waist, and much more.

Mesotherapy for Facial Rejuvenation

Facial wrinkles and sagging skin respond well to Mesotherapy, which tightens and firms the skin, leaving it hydrated and rejuvenated. The injections are made directly into the wrinkles and areas of pigmentation and/or scarring.

As you can see Mesotherapy treatments can be useful for a variety of health conditions, whether it be the treatment of acute or chronic pain, or used for cosmetic purposes.
